About us

Southsea Girls is dedicated to empowering women and girls through meet-ups, workshops and events.

Our mission is to ensure that every woman and girl has access to the services, resources, and guidance they need to thrive in every aspect of their lives, including mental health, physical well-being, education, legal support, and economic opportunities.

What we do

After an incredible first year, we are entering 2025 with the aim of developing Southsea Girls to act as a signposting and referral service, helping women and girls navigate the complex landscape of services available to them.

We aim to bridge gaps in knowledge and access, reducing the barriers that prevent women and girls from receiving the help they need, when they need it.

Southsea Girls works as a not-for-profit, with a team of volunteers who proudly share the above values, and dedicate their free time to ensuring there is a space held for local women.

Our Story

First launched in January 2024, we are a vibrant community of local women, from all walks of life, coming together to connect, share stories, and inspire each other through a variety of meet-ups and events hosted in independent venues across Southsea and Portsmouth.

We proudly hold space for women to meet and socialise, whilst also providing a platform to elevate women’s voices, so we can all work towards a better, fairer and safer future for women.

Our events take place in independent venues that we hire exclusively, to add an extra level of comfort to those who might be nervous about socialising.

As we head into our second year, we are developing new, and exciting relationships with local women’s charities and organisations, using our platform to facilitate workshops, guest speaker events, and round table discussions, that will cover important topics, and give local women the opportunity to have their voices heard.

Community is at the heart of everything we do, whether it’s supporting small women-owned businesses with our monthly craft markets at The Hideaway, fundraising for local causes, or collaborating with women-managed businesses to offer rewards to our group, helping to drive footfall into our beloved small businesses.

Southsea Girls has grown into so much more than a social group; it’s the village that so many women have been looking for. It’s no longer a ‘want’ it’s a ‘need.’

We are your local girl gang, and we can't wait to meet you.
